We explore How the first economies were created, how they’ve changed over the last 100 years, and what they look like today.
We start with the magic of gold – and what it tells us about how collective belief is such a key part of any type of money.
We look at more recent history – how our generation is worse off than our parents and grandparents. And into how people are being hit with the rising cost of groceries and the price of being poor.
We end with looking at what rising extreme wealth of both multi-millionaires and billionaires really looks like.

The Federal Reserve has no reserve and it is not federal, it is privately owned.
red is the only way
It must be quite boring being so rich. Seems it also requires a good bunch of bad taste.
And people who call to tax the rich and redistribute wealth are somehow considered and labeled as fringe extremist far left radical communists. Make that make sense
36:50 the great gatsby voice.
they need to make a law that much sell half your stock for taxes any unsold stock get taxed twice
If i had to sum up the video in one sentence – "Rich people with the most disgusting desires do everything in their power to stay in power"
US biggest reserves is the oil trade
money!
God this is such nonsense. Get a job, learn some skills. Find your place in a career. Work hard and you will move up. Stop making excuses and stop pretending like life is so hard. It isn't. Just do it.
I’m 1/3 of the way into the video and I haven’t heard any mention of technological advancement causing the separation between productivity and wages. Labor became more productive largely because of technological advancement and capital expenditure in those technologies, so it sort of makes sense that there would be a gap in wages and productivity. The employees don’t have to work harder or become more skilled to produce more. And in terms of the divide between ceos and the average employee, adding or losing a single employee at the bottom level is not going to make a difference in the value of the company like a ceo would. And the larger the company the more pronounced this is.
so america is the biggest scammer in history
Well, it ain’t working for me- that’s for sure!!
You never talk about the tax you need to pay when you sell stock to pay back the principle on the loan.
1:51:25 How is it even legal for states to divert payments going to a specific individual to a general state program?
Remember, you work for between 17-20 years for the government for free just to live here! Thats taxes! 😀
1:54:12 I had to tap out here. I’m so absolutely depressed that I can’t go on watching this..
1:55:58 so, the US government farms out dialysis to private companies . Then has those private companies provide dialysis services. Then provides public funds to those companies, which operate in a ‘for-profit’ basis. Then attempts to bring in legislation to limit the amount of profit those companies can make, in an attempt to stop these companies from price gouging some of the the most vulnerable people in the community. That attempted legislation then gets blocked because these companies were price giggling enough that they could spend $100 million dollars to block the legislation. Have I got this right?
Good God, man! Is anyone paying attention? That’s the most ludicrous way a government can provide socialised healthcare, without calling it socialised healthcare. You know which countries have found a better way of doing this?
Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Korea, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela.
All these countries provide dialysis services direct from government and patients through ‘non-profit’ socialised healthcare systems.
The average annual cost to the government dialysis in the counties listed above is US%4,500. The average cost for the exact sane service in the US, provided by private companies but funded by the government is anywhere between US 34,000 – $90,000.
They don’t need legislation to stop companies price gouging cancer patients because they provide the services themselves and simple economies of scale bring down the price as one single provider provides the services to everyone. All the US needs to do is to address the wasteful nature of government spending and provide the services direct. You know, like the 95 countries listed above do. If 95 other countries can do it, then surely that’s no issue for “the greatest country in the whole:, right?
There is a very easy solution to the problem of the {parasites} at the top. And no it isn't voting, or trying to beat them at their own game in the system they built and rigged to be always in their control. You can't sue them because they've also rigged the legal system, every obstacle in society is all about disciplining and controlling labor
You beat them outside their system, there is the French method(it's what they fear most) and there is the passive method that requires zero effort, it's called a mass labor embargo. If tens of millions withheld their labor for just a few days, we could destroy their power(money).
Remember these parasites didn't earn their wealth they stole it ,by skimming off everything you do, they literally make money off of your survivalfrom you, your family, and every American who does labor to survive.
People don't actually get paid when we earn money but we finally get paid by other people when we spend money, even gold.
Money represents the "full faith" that it can be redeemed for someone else's goods and or services, their "and credit."
People pay dollar BILLS; Not WITH those dollar BILLS.
We have it backwards.
Gold DOES have utility, just barely not as direct as food. You can't make it, it's very hard to acquire (you can't grow gold), it is very easy to weigh in small quantities because it's heavy, and it looks cool. Yeah belief is important in this, but gold is the perfect substance to be used to represent value, ALMOST an inherent value, at least until we can mine an asteroid for it in 100 years if everything doesn't fall apart. RAW MATERIALS are very important, and gold's main utility is in it remaining a raw material, therefore making it a very valuable raw material.
Johnny I am from New Zealand and I have a question if you can make a video on the situation in New Zealand.
You’re measuring everything in dollars which is why everything is wrong! Using gold as a measure, the economy didn’t produce more prosperity than the 1970s.
Hey @johnnyharris you need to do a video on the propaganda and what it is, and that America after the Second World War how they took the model from the Nazi’s to create the narrative of what every American gets served everyday through news media and more and more social media! As a Swiss resident it’s laughable watching American news media for this exact point, Americans think they live in the free-est of all the countries! But this is actually a joke!
I enjoyed this episode, keep up the amazing work! Love ❤you and your team!
Man, that part about our generation having it worse than our parents hits way too close to home.
At least he mentioned structural racism, but just barely so far (around 41:00).
2:07:53 everyone argues why things are more expensive. If we spent more time arguing why things are less expensive more ppl would move en masse to achieve lesser prices and cry about inflation less.
It's the focus on the argument of increased prices that keeps the arguments of increased prices alive and thriving.
Prices don't go down while the poor get poorer. But pls, everyone, keep talking about how high the prices are. Crying about something always made it go away.
Really good and well researched video. Took me a couple of weeks to watch it in parts but worth the time spent. Thanks Johnny for this incredible work.
This reminded me of documentaries by Adam Curtis. Keep up the good work! 👍🏽
best
1:10 you forgot to mention you drive a Honda civic or Toyota Corolla to be frugal !!😂
In regards to rent, you put an apartment on the market not knowing who will want to rent it, and the person may or may not be on Section 8. I'd appreciate it if you wouln't make ALL landlords out as bad people. I've offered properties at the same price as I would for the general public. Furthermore, most professional property managers will tell you that people on Section 8 are generally much harder on properties and tend to do more damage. I had a Section 8 tenant who allowed her dogs to eat and chew the kitchen cabinet drawers and doors as well as cabinets in both bathrooms. When she moved out, doors were missing and lights were too. Another Section 8 tenant left the property with carpeting that looked like she was changing the oil in the car in the middle of the living room. There have been higher costs in repairs when renting out to Section 8 in general. The Housing Authority did nothing to help me out with the tenant who had dogs chewing cabinets. I lost an entire years rent from her damages. Let me repeat again, a lot of Section 8 tenants find properties they like themselves that are open to the GENERAL PUBLIC. They are NOT properties with jacked up prices. Furthermore, you are mentioning nothing about contractor's fees. I've seen double the fees painters would have charged 10 years ago are now double. During the pandemic I saw electricians double their fees. Insurance is getting much more expensive. An hvac contractor recently charged me $615.00 for 20 minutes of work where the parts were under warranty.
What's even worse than the wages is that companies use you like a one time and throws you away. You sacrifice so much for it in the hope they will at least be there to take care of you for the rest of your life. Like its easy to sacrifice 5 years of work/sleep/work if you know that you will have a job until you die or retire but instead they throw you out when you are depleted and reach the stage of only able to give 80% due to wanting other things in life. You did the 5 year sht work, you did your part for the company so now you should at least deserve the security of knowing that you do not have to fear unemployment. Maybe 120% first 5 years sounds like a lot but 80% year 6-10 is worth more due to your experience, same as 60% year 11-30. At least in physical labor you have a whole different level of energy to do 11 hour days when you are 20-25 than when you are 26-30, like we are biological machines that start to decay and brake after like 23. The repairs in our system becomes patches upon patches so something that only stopped you for an hour at 22 years old will stop you for a day at 35 years old.
Its like the honesty and the security is totally gone and if you can't make it into the top 10% or get born into it there is really no point trying, like trying will "kill you" so just better try to detach from the system. Grow your own food, have some animals, fish, hunt and find a job that pays for the fees the society still has on you. Your life might be harder growing your own food but it will be so much more rewarding than sitting in a city wondering if you can afford to eat next month… Already the joy you feel after harvesting your first crops, yes your places hurt but you can see the security in bags/buckets. The chickens/ducks will make sure you have a very great food source every day, not the healthiest but its a security. Thee rabbits are cute but they do taste good too and is once again a source of security you can see. You go fish for a day, it might only be perch but when you prepare them and put em in the fridge it is a source of security. Go forage for things, yes there are bugs but its a source of pretty healthy security. My point is not that you produce your own food, you produce your own security and knowing that you will have something to eat is removing one of the most important.
For housing the elites have locked us common people down so instead of searching for high wage, search for an area with a wage that can afford a house in that area. No house with a monthly rent, a house where you own it all and you only pay for things you consume.
My point is that stop getting stuck trying to "win the race", you need to just stop running and search for security that you can reach. Security is what keeps you calm, there are always things to worry about its just that not having food really hits deep.
Really sad to see that this reality is true even outside USA. The problem is that in USA you had it bad even before this new change.
Still in USA that 40k living standard should be the minimum, no matter if you earn 25k or 40k you should be able to afford a minimal life that is at least somewhat healthy.
Okay, let’s simplify the explanation so we can get straight to the point of the discussion. How does a piece of paper, such as money, acquire value in the first place? Of course, according to this idea, it is because of gold. If a country does not use gold, what would it use as capital to sustain its economy? When we talk about an economy, we are talking about the means by which the people of a country earn a living. What gives value to the paper money they use is supposedly backed by gold. Now, how does a country acquire gold? Through the resources of its own country such as food, crops, and other products—which it exports and sells to other countries that need them. In exchange, it receives money. Over time, this creates capital that can become an investment for the country, supposedly through gold. But here is the question: How does gold itself acquire value when it cannot be eaten? It is mainly used for display, decoration, jewelry, and similar purposes. What happens when a country’s natural resources are depleted in exchange for something that cannot be eaten and is simply accumulated? Gold keeps being accumulated in certain places and held as part of the reserves and investments of different countries. So, who actually gives gold such enormous value, and why does it continue to be accumulated in different countries and financial institutions? Have you ever thought about that? That is what you should find out: *Why does gold have value? Who gives it that value? Where does that value come from? And how does it continue to have value when there is no obvious person or entity that actually needs to consume it?* Don’t you find that worth questioning? I’ll leave you with that question so you can fully understand why gold became so valuable and why money has historically been connected to it. Why does so much gold end up being accumulated in certain places? **Who actually needs it, and why? Because if no one had any interest in gold, it would not have become such an important foundation for wealth, international reserves, and investment among nations.
If i could like this vid 1 trillion times, i would

Keep in mind that, not only, did we store our gold there; but for most of its life, Fort Knox was home to the 194th Armored Brigade AND the 1st Armor training Brigade. For 30 years this place was guarded by HUNDREDS of M1 Abrams and THOUSANDS of slightly smaller machines of war. I mean.. it makes sense
GOLD became money not alone because of some belief.. Gold is finite has utility and cannot be created by human beings at their will… Paper money is the empty shell which everyone believe to be money…
Can save Maximus $11.2 million if they would give up Bruce Caswell's address info
Ends it by saying "it's dangerous" What's dangerous is creating videos for the purpose of creating class warfare. And why does he do it? TO MAKE MONEY!!! The hypocrisy is astounding with this clown. Who cares if people have more money than you. You'll never find happiness living with envy. The average human today lives better than any other time in history. Yet you're trying to convince everyone they have it so bad and it's because of the wealthy? Really? Try being a better person and teach people where true happiness comes from. Because if you think it comes from your bank account you'll never find it. Too many people are living with no real purpose in life. Get married and have kids. Get off these crap channels that are profiting off of making you hate people more successful than you. Live life the right way and how much money you have will never matter. That's real freedom. Johnny you should be ashamed of yourself. People like you are the worse. Class warfare does nothing but create envy and destroy society 🤡
Regan Og spirit? what the hell are you even talking about? the system works perfectly for people like him (or yourself)
I hope you study the money system of Islam, the original Islam money system that were implemented in the 600s and 700s. Not the the current "Islamic countries".
This is the kind of stuff I wish they taught us in school
