In this conversation, he shares lessons from decades of observing investor behavior, explains why long-term discipline consistently outperforms short-term predictions, and discusses the principles that shape his investment philosophy at DSP Mutual Fund.
The discussion covers behavioral mistakes investors repeatedly make, why bear markets create the best opportunities, portfolio diversification, asset allocation, valuation-driven investing, sector cycles, India’s long-term investing outlook, AI and global investing, SIPs, compounding, and the importance of building resilient portfolios instead of chasing popular themes.
If you’re looking to become a more thoughtful long-term investor, this episode offers practical frameworks rooted in first principles rather than market noise.

  1. The Indian stock market grew in the 90s, but that doesn’t guarantee anything in the future, remember guys, this guy has vested interests. He owns a mutual funds company, of course he will say invest in india

  2. Developers have IDEs. Designers have dedicated creative tools. Institutional investors have terminals.
Retail investors? We still invest inside a browser built for everything — while everything else online is competing for our attention.

Maybe that's the part of the investing experience we've overlooked.

Maybe retail investors don't need another investing app. Maybe they need an environment designed around investing.

    That's the idea behind GainGo.

  3. Sharan if you are reading this comment, then pls do not do podcast of such US supporting individuals.

Don't invest in west. Invest in Asia or Bharat.

Your credibility of your name and channel will fall if you support making podcasts on US and west supporting individuals.

  4. They recently promoted an AI trading session in one of their videos. I did enroll for the session today, it was no where related to AI. Sorry to say but sessions are being sold in name of AI even when they don't really give you any AI related insight. Similar to selling a washing machine saying built in AI whereas it has nothing AI just basic code.

  5. India outperforming across a 25-year horizon is a case that most Western investors still have not properly priced in. The interesting question is whether the next decade looks anything like 1998 to 2024, or whether the valuation premium has finally caught up with the story. Do you think the global capital that is now actively looking at alternatives to the US will land in India, or does something like the UAE or Gulf end up absorbing a bigger share than expected?
