  1. The only person speaking truth loudly. Average Joe must understand that the responsibility of a fund manager begins and ends with their statement that investments are subject to Market risk. Joe should understand the associated risks involved in Mutual Fund Investment.

  2. He's an international investor and has deep knowledge. He's not wrong in what he says. The average Indian investor is ignorant (including self). But they think they know right & a lot. What they know is only from heresay & marketing and some historical books on investing.
He's addressing the ignorant investor to play safe.

There is another angle to his statement. Many Indians have got rich in last 2 decades & want to invest in financial markets.

Now FIIs exited for profit and political reasons. They want to enter & are finding pricing high because these Indian investors are pumping money along with DII. Thus this subtle nudge to stay away

  3. Really, pl take their advice with a pinch of salt. Mutual funds have done exceedingly well. Eg, Reliance Growth fund amstarted in Oct 1995 at 10 NAV. Gold was at 4600 in 1995. Today gold is around 140000, 30X. Very Good return 30X in 31 yrs, How about Reliance Growth direct fund, 4987, a cool 498X compared to 30X . And still is a marketing tool. Retail pl put your money for long term in good equity mutual funds

  4. Average Joe? India mein baithke why refer to American idioms like a beggar? Average investor, common man, aam admi, mango investor, Ram, Rahim, Laxman is preferred if there's an iota of self-respect. Itni khujli kyoon hai US ki g main ghusne ki?

  5. Listen to him if you want to settle at 7-8%. Keep in mind, Pessimist always sounds smart but optimists always make money. Stay put in market if you have investments, this shall too pass. It is mot happening for the first time.

  6. Now shiftisover India investment move fd real estate gold to Mutulfunds maybe next 10 years almsot 35 % pepole participated in mutulfunds investment which is more than bank fds that time it may 28 to 30% brtual progress possible next 10 years indian mutulfund industry

  7. Now I am not an expert in investing. Whatever, I have learned, I have learned from stock marketyself. I simply try to buy the dips.
Respect to his views. In my opinion, he gives too big of a doomsday scenario all the time. I do not know if he is a short seller or anything else.

The entry point for gold and land is just too high. And I have no idea how fds can maximize wealth unless you have a big lumpsum of money directly invested in it.

  8. Gold is not an investment. It is a hedge against uncertainty. Gold does not produce anything, neither interest nor dividends. It's value is determined by what a person is willing to pay for it. No more than 7.5 percent of your portfolio if you need exposure to commodities.

  9. Stay invested in Indian large-cap & mid-cap IT stocks.
Imagine buying Infosys and TCS at 2020 price levels while their earnings have grown substantially:

    Infosys: ₹16,639 Cr → ₹29,474 Cr (+77%)
    TCS: ₹32,447 Cr → ₹49,454 Cr (+52%)

The businesses are significantly stronger today, but the valuations have gone back to 2020 levels. Such opportunities are rare for long-term investors.

  10. but real estate is rigged against the middle/upper middle class. unless you have generational wealth it is very difficult. plus rental yields are not great at all.
