While there are a number of factors that contribute to job satisfaction, there may be nothing more important than compensation. A high salary is important for workers to feel that they are valued at their company and give them the financial stability and flexibility to live comfortably. With inflation soaring, Americans are more keen than ever to boost their earnings. While payment in any job depends on factors like experience, location, and the company itself, there are dozens of jobs in which most workers earn at least $100,000 per year. To determine the jobs with six-figure salaries, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics report National Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates for May 2021. Detailed occupations were ranked on their median annual income. Miscellaneous … [Read More...]

Where the Fewest People Rent Their Homes in Every State
For the first time in the nation’s history, median monthly rents in the United States crossed the $2,000 mark. According to a report from real estate listing site Redfin, the median rent on all apartments listed nationwide rose 15% compared to a year ago. For those millions of Americans who do not have the stability afforded to them through homeownership, rising rent will take a serious financial toll. Nationwide, 35.6% of housing units are occupied by renters. In most states, however, there is at least one county where renting is relatively uncommon. To determine the county with the lowest rental rate in every state, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed five-year estimates of the share of housing units that are occupied by renters among counties and county equivalents from … [Read More...]

The Most Famous Duos in TV History
When the chemistry is right, the pairing of two characters in a television comedy or drama can turn the series into a hit. (Pairings can be successful in other areas, too. These are the most iconic musical duos in history.) To create a list of the most famous duos in TV history, 24/7 Tempo researched series in which friendships, partnerships, rivalries, and/or romantic relationships are key on sites including IMDb, an online movie and TV database owned by Amazon; Rotten Tomatoes, an online movie and TV review aggregator; and Uproxx.com. Cast information also came from IMDb. TV’s famous duos can be relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers, even enemies whose relationships evolve into something else. They are often found in comedies. Could Corporate Profits Hold Up Better This Cycle?
If the pandemic has taught us anything I think it is that this economic cycle is unlike any others we can point to in history given the uniqueness of how the entire globe has had to react to Covid-19. The investment community tends to try and predict current trajectories with those of prior cycles, and I am no different. In fact, in my latest quarterly letter to clients I pointed out that during the last four recessions S&P companies saw profits fall between 20% and 40% peak to trough. Coupled with near-certain multiple compression, it is easy to see how and why stock prices get walloped during recessionary periods, even if the drops are relatively short-lived in the grand scheme of things. So here … [Read More...]

The Most Famous Firsts in World History
Unless you’re a track and field aficionado, you’ve probably never heard of John Landy. In 1954, the Australian runner set the world record for running the mile, with a time of 3:57. He was the second person to run a sub-four-minute mile, though, so few remember him – while millions know the name of England’s Roger Bannister, who ran the mile six weeks earlier at the slightly slower time of 3:59.4, because Bannister broke the record first. All through human history, people have endeavored at being the first at something. While some monetary compensation might be an incentive, immortality is just as big a motivator. To determine some of the most famous firsts in history, 24/7 Tempo drew on resources such as Biography Online, History, Oldest.Org, Science Struck, … [Read More...]
