Summary
This card is clearly positioned as the mid-tier counterpart to the UA and DL co-branded cards. Its main long-term perk is just the annual companion certificate. If it were easier to use one or two items from the coupon book, it might be slightly more appealing. For people who actually fly AA often, the four club passes barely move the needle. Overall, aside from the welcome bonus, there’s little competitive value here.

Recommended Downgrade Options
[2025.3 Update] It seems Citi no longer allows product change between AA cards and TYP cards, therefore if you would like to downgrade this card to a no fee card, your only options are Citi AA MileUp and Citi Costco.
