Our Verdict
The older offer maxed out at $1,000, this now has a $2,000 tier and all of the tiers are better. The bonus itself is pretty good – basically a 1% bonus if you meet the exact tiers required. The savings account also has a competitive interest rate as well (currently 3.50% at time of this writing).
New customers only. I believe E*trade or Morgan Stanley customers who never had an E*trade Savings account would be eligible, but that could be worth verifying.
Some people are anyway also interested in having a free E*Trade account in order to qualify for the Morgan Stanley AmEx Platinum card; I assume this savings account would work for that. There’s also a $300 E*trade checking bonus currently available.
This is a solid deal for someone with cash reserves. I’ve added it to our Best Savings Bank Bonuses page.
(An older offer they once ran had some confusing language about targeting while this one appears to be a clean, public offer. They did manage to add a bit of confusion by writing “you must apply a valid promotional code obtained through one of our authorized affiliate marketing partners”, but I assume the public landing page is an authorized source and would work for anyone.)
