The Fine Print
- To receive $150 bonus, member must open any MSUFCU checking account. Bonus of $150 will be deposited to the member’s Spartan Saver within 90 days after promotion end date.
- Not valid for members with existing or previously closed checking accounts.
- Not valid for Business or Youth accounts.
- Valid for permanent Illinois residents only.
- Offer cannot be combined with any other checking offers.
- One checking bonus per member.
- Bonus may be taxable and reported on an IRS Form 1099-MISC or 1099-INT, if applicable.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.
Our Verdict
Previously this was a $250 + $250 bonus but only available in MI and also required a direct deposit. Given that this has no requirements I do think it’s worth doing.
