Keep Membership Rewards Active with No Annual Fee Amex Cards

American Express Membership Rewards points never expire. But if you’re always chasing big welcome bonuses with premium Amex cards, then when it’s time to close them, you might find yourself in a pickle.

Membership Rewards points are forfeited when a card is canceled, unless you have another American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points. We all know about the Platinum and Gold cards that offers big bonuses and lots of benefits. But if you’re looking for a credit card that will keep your Membership Rewards points active, then you only have two options with no annual fee.

The Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American Express and The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express are your two options. One is a consumer card, while the other a business card. Check out the details of these two cards below. The offers listed are what currently available, but we often see increased bonuses.

Guru’s Wrap-up

Having one of these two cards is probably a good idea so you never have to worry about forfeiting any membership Rewards points. I have The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express myself, which is also a great product for everyday purchases since it earns 2X everywhere. The Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American Express is also a decent option since it can earn 2.4X at U.S. supermarkets, on up to $6,000 per year.

Both cards are also good options for those who prefer to stay away from credit cards with annual fees, while still having the opportunity to earn valuable transferrable points.
