Amex Consumer and Business Platinum Cards Updates Coming This Fall
🔃 Update: Annual fee on these cards is likely going up to $895 based on qwww links which are used for testing new offers. I guessed they would go for $895 or $995 so they can still claim to be the fanciest card out there after Chase upped the fee on the Sapphire Reserve. It’s possible that the changes on Platinum cards will go live on September 18, as that’s when the 35% rebate is getting restricted on the Business Platinum card. (HT: oxymoronic99)
American Express has revealed that two major updates are coming to its U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum Cards® later this year. With these updates, the company says it “is making its largest investment ever in a Card refresh.”
“More than forty years ago, we introduced the Platinum Card, and we continue to offer Platinum Cards with global servicing, unique benefits and experiences that our Card Members love,” said Howard Grosfield, Group President, U.S. Consumer Services. “Platinum Card benefits and services resonate across generations, particularly with Millennial and Gen Z who accounted for 35% of total U.S. Consumer spending last quarter. We’re going to take these Cards to a new level, not only in what they offer in travel, dining and lifestyle benefits, but also in how they look and feel, to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
American Express is only revealing that changes are coming, but has not shared any details. The company said in its press release that it will announce further updates in the fall.
The new comes as information about a Chase Sapphire Reserve revamp keeps trickling in, with full details expected to revealed tomorrow.
Let me know in the comments what you think these changes might include!
