Retailers in New York to Start Selling Amazon Gift Cards Again
Back on July 1st, Amazon pulled its gift cards from shelves at New York retailers, including Staples. This was a strange move by Amazon as it didn’t affect any other states.
But apparently it’s not permanent, and it was just part of a test by the giant inline retailer.
Times Union reports that Amazon used this as a test to “evaluate how and where consumers purchase Amazon gift cards”. Amazon gift cards are still available to New Yorkers from the Amazon website and at Whole Foods, the supermarket chain owned by Amazon.
The test focused “in a limited geographic area to gain insight into how consumers buy the company’s gift cards.”
The good news is that this test will not last for long. Amazon gift cards should be back in stores starting in October. That should include Staples, where you can earn 5X in rewards using Chase Ink Business Cash.
