Our Verdict
20% card discount applies as well, so you can effectively purchase 120,000 points and diamond status for $800. Normally they offer a 100% bonus on points without the card discount so 120,000 points would normally cost $600, basically buying Diamond status for $200 (compared to buying the points normally).
You might be able to go through a portal that pays out on Points.com (who handle IHG points purchases) as well. Rarely think that buying status makes sense, so easy pass for me but might be useful for others.
