This video is the complete compilation of all the iceberg of finance series. For those not familiar with iceberg memes, they are charts are usually images of an iceberg, captioned humorously so as to convey that the tip of the iceberg is the summation of the knowledge of most people, while the much larger submerged part of the iceberg is the sum of all knowledge of a particular topic. The deeper it goes, the weirder, darker, and more conspiratorial it gets. In finance, there is enough odd truths out there that make our field perfectly suitable to icebergs.

  1. From my understanding, it's a modern myth that Mansa Musa was the richest man alive. He wasn't even the richest monarch of his time (Chinese and South Asian monarchs were wealthier). Part of the myth probably comes from his own self-promotion, but I suspect it's also similar to the revisionist history that Netflix documentaries are famous for, where left-leaning racial narratives lead to mainstream sources perpetuating easily-disproven narratives, either out of laziness, virtue signaling, or fear of being attacked as racist if they challenge it.

  2. Great video, never had an interest in finance as i always thought would just get an accountant but now getting more interested in investing and want to become mote financially literate 👌

  3. The quote about compound interest being the “eighth wonder of the world” is often attributed to Albert Einstein, but there is no credible evidence that he actually said or wrote this. Despite its popularity, the origin of the quote is unclear, and it seems to be a piece of financial wisdom passed around and mistakenly linked to Einstein to emphasize the power of compound interest.

Einstein was a brilliant physicist, but this quote does not appear in any of his known works or speeches. It is more likely a motivational saying from the finance community rather than an authentic Einstein quote.
