20 most popular cities for Gen X homebuyers

Members of Generation X still make up a large portion of homebuyers in the current market, according to most surveys. LendingTree recently ranked the most popular cities for Gen X homebuyers by analyzing mortgage offers given to users of their platform across the nation’s 50 largest metropolitan areas in 2023.

Across the nation’s largest metro areas, 21.25% of mortgage offers in 2023 on the LendingTree platform went to Gen Xers. This group received more than 20% of offered mortgages in 29 of the nation’s 50 largest metros.

In Miami, Las Vegas, and Riverside, California, Gen Xers made up the largest share of potential homebuyers. The average age among potential Gen X homebuyers in the top three cities is 50.
