American Express Platinum $200 Airline Incidental Reimbursement – No Longer Works On United Travel Bank

It seems that the American Express Platinum $200 airline incidental reimbursement is no longer working on United TravelBank purchases. Some people are being told that from February 5, 2026 it no longer works and that Delta is next.  More discussion can be found: here, here & here. The last major nerf we saw to this benefit was back in 2015 when gift cards stopped working.

If your credits haven’t posted and you’ve made a purchase somewhere that shouldn’t really qualify I’d recommend being patient rather than calling American Express as you are just drawing attention to your account and rule skirting behavior.

The terms do state to allow 6-8 weeks for the credits to post and there has been delays in the past so it’s possible it’ll still eventually credit but at this stage I doubt it. Typically the credit will post within a few days of the charge posting.
