The Australian share market ended its day slightly higher. That was despite a tech sell-off on Wall Street as investors are growing increasingly sceptical about the economics of the AI investment boom.
Shares of Cleanaway Waste Management jumped 20 per cent after it signed a $9.4 billion takeover deal with Swedish investment firm EQT. Challenger shares jumped 19 per cent after the investment manager received a buyout offer from a Japanese life insurer, valuing it at almost $8 billion.
Meanwhile, Ampol’s fuel refining margin has more than doubled, thanks to wars in the Middle East and Ukraine. Presented by David Chau.
