Capital One Now Offering Retention Bonuses?

Capital One is one of the credit card issuers that is not known for offering retention bonuses. But a datapoint on reddit points that it could now be possible to get one.

The redditor says that he called in to cancel his Capital One Venture X card and received a “loyalty offer” of $200 credit on Capital One Travel after spending $2,000 in 3 months.

The Venture X card comes with a $395 annual fee, but you also get a $300 annual credit for bookings through Capital One Travel and 10,000 bonus miles (equal to $100 towards travel) every year, starting on your first anniversary. So a retention bonus can make this an easy decision to keep the card.

Guru’s Wrap-up

It’s not clear how common this is, or if other cards are also eligible for this “loyalty offer”. But if you plan on closing a Capital One card, or just want to check if you can also get one of these “loyalty offers”, then give them a call.
