The head of the US cyber agency said on Monday that there has been no evidence of any material interference with election infrastructure, despite “unprecedented disinformation” suggesting otherwise.

Jen Easterly, director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said it would not be possible for bad actors to tamper with voting systems in a material way without being detected.

Easterly added that US citizens were being subjected to a “fire hose of disinformation” from foreign adversaries such as Russia.

Asked about X owner Elon Musk and presidential candidate Donald Trump amplifying claims of election fraud, she said that it was “very unfortunate and very irresponsible for anybody of position of influence” to spread inaccurate information.
